One killed, one charged in Saturday crash

Nov. 19—A Cleburne man died following a Saturday morning crash near Grandview, Texas Department of Public Safety Sgt. Josue De La Cerda said.

The victim, Dillon Donahoe, 35, died at the scene of the crash, officers said.

A female passenger in Donahoe's Dodge Ram suffered injuries as well. She was flown by helicopter to John Peter Smith Hospital where she remains in stable condition.

Troopers arrested the driver of the other vehicle involved, James Armstrong, 75, of Whitney, on charges of intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault. Armstrong was booked into the Johnson County Jail.

Rescue workers responded at about 1:50 a.m. to Interstate 35W about 1.9 miles north of Grandview.

Early investigation indicates that Armstrong was traveling southbound in a Jeep Patriot at a high rate of speed and struck Donahoe's Ram from behind.

The impact caused the Ram to roll and strike a concrete pillar of an overpass.

Troopers determined that Armstrong was intoxicated at the time of the crash. Armstrong was sent to JPS to be treated for "non-incapacitating injuries" and subsequently arrested on the two intoxication charges.

De La Cerda said the crash remains under investigation with no additional details being released at this time.
