One killed, three injured in motor vehicle crash in Hampton

Jun. 28—HAMPTON — More information has been released following a motor vehicle crash in Hampton that claimed one life and left three injured Sunday afternoon around 1 p. m.

According to Connecticut State Police, Cory Atkins, 52, of Columbia was driving his motorcycle eastbound on Hartford Turnpike in Hampton.

State Police said Jeanette Stark-Drury, 36, of Chaplin, drove her SUV and attempted to make a left turn from Pudding Hill Road onto Hartford Turnpike traveling westbound. According to State Police, she was carrying two passengers in her vehicle: Emma Stark- Drury, 14, and Charlie Stark-Drury, 5, both of Chaplin.

As a result, Atkins' vehicle collided with Stark- Drury's car, according to State Police.

State Police said that the accident caused the airbag to deploy in Stark- Drury's vehicle.

State Police said that both drivers sustained damage to the front of their vehicles. The driver's side of Stark-Drury's car was also damaged. Both vehicles were towed from the scene of the accident.

According to State Police, Atkins had no motorcycle insurance.

According to State Police, Atkins died from the accident. State Police said that all three Stark-Drurys sustained minor injuries from the collision and were transported by ambulance to Windham Hospital.

State Police said that they are currently investigating this incident and no enforcement action has been taken at this time.
