One killed in two-vehicle crash in Jim Wells County
A woman died in a two-vehicle crash on State Highway 44 in Jim Wells County on Saturday, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
In an email, DPS said the crash happened at 11:16 a.m. A black Toyota Corolla facing northbound on the Main Street crossover west of State Highway 359 "disregarded" a stop sign and proceeded to turn eastbound on State Highway 44.
The Toyota Corolla was then struck on the driver’s side by a white Dodge Charger traveling eastbound.
The driver of the Toyota Corolla suffered life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to Christus Spohn Hospital in Corpus Christi. The passenger, 48-year-old Amanda Corona Tamez of Houston, was pronounced dead at Christus Spohn Hospital in Alice.
According to the email, DPS troopers are further investigating.
