One man dead after one-vehicle accident in West Point

WEST POINT, Ind. — One man is dead Monday after a one-vehicle accident on Washington Street at Walnut Street in West Point, according to the Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Office.

The man's identity will be released later in the week, Tippecanoe County Coroner Carrie Costello said Tuesday morning.

The pickup truck was northbound about 4 p.m. Monday and left the road, striking a tree, according to the sheriff's office. The impact caused fatal injuries to the man inside the truck.

An autopsy is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, Costello said. She said the presumptive identification of the man indicates he is in his 60s.
