Quincy Center man escapes house fire after neighbor alerts him

QUINCY – A Quincy Center resident escaped a fire at his home on Sunday, Nov. 28.

The fire, at 166 Granite Ave., was called in at about 3:45 p.m. and went to two alarms, drawing 10 fire engines to the scene, fire Lt. Chris Murphy said.

A man who lives in the house had to flee after a neighbor alerted him the house was on fire. He was receiving help from the Red Cross.

The fire started on the exterior of the home, damaging the exterior and the attic, with the lower floors sustaining water damage, Murphy said.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
