Deputies from the New Hanover Sheriff's Office arrested two people allegedly connected to a Friday afternoon shooting that claimed the life of a 19-year-old man in the Monkey Junction neighborhood.

According to officials from the sheriff's office, the incident is believed to be gang related. Lt. Jerry Brewer, public information officer, reported that additional information on this matter is not being released at this time.

Deputies came to Bennett Village Apartments on Piner Road Friday just before 3 p.m. and found Quashawn Pearsall suffering from a gunshot wound. He was rushed to New Hanover Regional Medical Center to receive treatment for life-threating injuries.

Official announced Saturday afternoon that Pearsall succumbed to his injuries and died.

An investigation by detectives started around midnight. The Emergency Response Team executed a a search warrant on King Street where they arrested Ahmad Shaheed Tate, 22. He was charged with first degree murder and is currently in the New Hanover County Detention Center with no bond.

Tate's girlfriend, Regina Michelle Davis, 21, was also charged with accessory after the fact. She received a $100,000 secure bond.
