One man protest: EKU student takes to street to voice concern over Supreme Court decision

Jun. 25—When Jordan Roush, a junior at Eastern Kentucky University, saw the news of Roe v. Wade being overturned earlier today, he said he knew he needed to do something.

Anyone driving on Eastern Bypass by the Model Laboratory School may have seen Roush holding a sign saying "Never Again."

"I was really frustrated with the news this morning," Roush said. "I can't believe the way things are turning where someone who's either raped or is a victim of stealthing doesn't have the guaranteed right to their own reproductive system and have the choice to to abort their child if they want to."

Roush said he wants to encourage more people to get out to vote.

"I feel like there's not enough awareness among people here. I wish more people would do their research," Roush said. "A lot of people around here are led by religion. We can't let religion interfere with the way we run our country."

In 2020, George Floyd was killed by a police officer, which sparked protests throughout the nation. Roush said that was the last time he was this vocal.

"Every once in a while, there's just something that makes me so frustrated that I just feel like I have to say something," Roush said.
