Talk about Clark Kent/Superman.

He still looks the same with his Hollywood smile and muscular physique, even minus the cape.

The News Journal sat down with actor Dean Cain Friday night at Crossroads Church.

Cain played the role of Clark Kent/Superman in the TV series "Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman," and was in Mansfield Friday to play a pastor in a new JCFilms' movie, "APOCALYPSE: The Key to the Realms" at the Ontario campus of Crossroads Church on Lexington-Springmill Road.

He's also playing a pastor in "Drop the Beat," another JCFilms' production being made in Mansfield.

Friday night, award-winning actor Cain was on hand to launch the nonprofit Ohio Helping Hands' program that benefits foster families.

Making his first trip to Mansfield this past week, Cain said he's been to Columbus and Cleveland a number of times and loves both cities.

"I'm pretty excited for Cleveland getting a new quarterback and they're going to be immediate Super Bowl contenders which is pretty exciting," Cain said in an interview. "I like Baker (Mayfield) too. He's was a lot of fun but that's the nature of this game. I played this game. My buddy (actor) Eddie (McClintock of North Canton) is from nearby. I'd like to visit Canton. I'd love to see the Football Hall of Fame."

Cain, who was born in Michigan, joked that some Ohio State fans give him a hard time.

"Ohio's been wonderful and fantastic and every time I've been here I've had a great time," he said.

Cain, who is adopted, handed out the first set of "Foster Family Fun Packs" to Richland County Children Services prior to the film premiere of, "Joey & Rex Save the Church." The film, made in Mansfield last November, stars, among others, Pastor Dave Vance of Crossroads Church.

Cain said he keeps busy with filming with his friend Jason Campbell who founded JCFilms.

"My roles are smaller. I don't star in the films," he said. "It's wonderful. I can come in and play a part and do something and be in the film and help give it some notoriety without having it be my job."

The ball cap he wore adorned with an "A" and angel wings has special meaning for Cain.

"I have a big, huge movie coming out for me that I wrote, produced, directed and starred in, a multi-million-dollar film. It's called, 'Little Angels,'" he said.

"It's the story of a college football coach who gets in trouble for being politically incorrect then gets suspended for the year and has to coach and do community service and having to coach a 13-and-under girls' soccer team, which he doesn't like doing," Cain said.

"It's a baby for me, it's a living, breathing thing," he said. "I actually screen it for distributors next week."

Cain said he will be talking about the Hollywood picture coming out, a picture he made off the beaten path with a single financier.

Always busy, Cain said work is not the problem — "time to do all the work is."
