One person has been arrested after woman found dead in parked vehicle

Police have made an arrest and are investigating the death of a 33-year-old Port Huron woman found dead in a parked vehicle Saturday.

Police found the woman with obvious trauma to her body in the vehicle in the 2700 block of Vanness Street about 5:45 a.m., according to a Port Huron Police Department press release.

Port Huron police detectives and the Major Crimes Unit were called out to investigate. The Michigan State Police Crime Lab is assisting with evidence collection.

The woman was turned over to the St. Clair County Medical Examiner’s Office. Her name will not be released until an autopsy has been conducted and positive identification has been made, according to the department.

At 11:10 a.m., the Port Huron Police Special Response Team executed a search warrant in the 2600 block Manuel Street in Port Huron. The home is the residence of a 46-year-old man who was arrested in connection with the murder.

The man was taken to the Port Huron Police Department and interviewed. He was ultimately lodged in the St. Clair County jail on the charge of open murder.
