Four houses burn in separate fires across Baltimore Monday; one person in critical condition after East Baltimore house fire
Baltimore firefighters raced to extinguish two fires across Baltimore Monday night, just hours after two other homes were engulfed by flames and one person was critically injured earlier in the day.
Firefighters simultaneously responded around 10:20 p.m. to a heavy fire in a two-story rowhouse in East Baltimore’s Canton neighborhood while firefighters were already on the scene of a burning rowhome in South Baltimore’s Brooklyn neighborhood.
Smoke permeated three additional houses on the 700 block of Baylis Street in Canton; the fire was placed under control around 11 p.m.
Fire personnel extinguished flames and smoke coming from a two-story rowhouse on the 4100 block of 6th Street in Brooklyn around 10 p.m.
At least two other fires damaged homes and filled the sky with heavy smoke throughout the city Monday. Firefighters rescued a civilian around 3 p.m. in the Biddle Street neighborhood of East Baltimore after multiple floors in a two-story rowhome caught fire, according to the city fire department. A person living in the house on the 2600 block of East Chase Street was critically injured in the fire and sent to a hospital after fire personnel performed CPR.
In West Baltimore, a three-story rowhome caught fire around 3:30 p.m. in Harlem Park, according to the fire union. Firefighters arrived to smoke showing from the house on the 1000 block of West Franklin Street.
A firefighter was injured in a vacant house fire Sunday, in one of four buildings that caught fire that day. The injured firefighter has since been released from a local hospital.
