One person dead after vehicle accident in Barnwell County

BARNWELL COUNTY, S.C. (WJBF) – One person has died after a vehicle accident.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the incident happened 11:29 A.M. at SC 3 at Poplar Road, approximately 5 miles south of Barnwell, South Carolina.

Authorities say the two vehicles involved were a 2005 International Box Truck (Unit 1) and a 2020 Honda Ridgeline (Unit 2).

According to SCHP, Unit 2 was traveling east on Poplar Road and attempted to cross over SC3, where Unit 1 was traveling north, and Unit 2 collided into Unit 1.

Authorities say the occupant of Unit 1 was not injured, but the sole occupant of Unit 2 succumbed to their injuries on the scene.
