One person dies in Attalla house fire

A house fire Saturday resulted in the death of one person, according to Etowah County Sheriff Jonathan Horton in a news release.

A 911 call at approximately 9:32 a.m. Saturday from Millers Hollow Road in Attalla came in for a structure fire with a person still inside it, the release said.

According to the release, Ivalee Volunteer Fire Department and Etowah County Sheriff's deputies responded. Upon arriving, they began a rescue attempt and battled the blaze.

The name of the person killed in the fire is being withheld until the family can be notified, the release said.

Sheriff's investigators and fire investigators, along with the Etowah County Arson Task Force and the state fire marshal's office remained on the scene to investigate.
