One person killed, another hurt in Chesterfield County crash Christmas Eve

CHESTERFIELD — One person was killed and another seriously injured Christmas Eve when their vehicle collided with a pick-up truck on Beach Road not far from the main entrance to Pocahontas State Park, county police said.

The accident happened around 5:40 p.m. near the intersection of Beach and Riverway roads, police Lt. Keith Lee said in an email. Lee said a Hyundai sedan was westbound on Riverway Road when it crashed into a Chevrolet Silverado. that was eastbound on Beach Road.

Both occupants of the sedan were taken to an area hospital, Lee said. One of them was dead on arrival at the hospital, while the second was admitted and is in critical condition.

Their names have not been released pending notification of next of kin.

The investigation into the crash is continuing.
