One person killed and three injured in ‘major’ West Sacramento collision, police say

A motorist was killed Monday in a West Sacramento major vehicle collision that also resulted in three people suffering injuries, including a pedestrian, police said.

It’s unclear why a gray Audi and a white Toyota collided on West Capitol Avenue and Westacre Road, said Officer Hector Torres, a spokesman for the West Sacramento Police Department.

An occupant of the Audi died, Torres said, and a man and woman inside the Toyota were taken to a hospital and were in critical condition, Torres said Tuesday. A pedestrian, a man, also suffered minor injuries and was released, Torres said.

Officers who were called by multiple witnesses at about 9:20 p.m. Monday are still continuing their investigation, which includes reviewing footage, Torres said.
