The collision happened around 11:05 p.m. at Glenwood Drive, two miles south of Aiken, said Master Trooper Brandon Bolt with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

He said the driver of a four-door Toyota sedan was traveling south on Glenwood Drive at Creekside Drive, traveled to the right side of the road, and struck a culvert before overturning and striking a brick entrance sign.

The vehicle burst into flames after it struck the sign, and the driver of the vehicle sustained thermal injuries, according to a release from Aiken County Coroner Darryl Ables.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene and has not been identified.

The driver will be autopsied in Newberry to determine the cause of death and positive identification.
