A man who was struck in a hit-and-run collision Sunday morning on a busy Sacramento street has died from his injuries.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Richard Cortez, 52, of Glendale. Cortez died he was struck by a vehicle on Franklin Boulevard between 26th and 27th avenues in Sacramento’s North City Farms neighborhood around 6 a.m.

Sacramento police closed the stretch of Franklin to traffic in both directions for several hours to investigate and offered few details, but said the driver had fled the scene.

Callers may remain anonymous and can be eligible to a reward of up to $1,000. Anonymous tips can also be submitted via the “P3 Tips” cell phone app.
