One person transported to burn unit after Oak Hill apartment fire

OAK HILL, WV (WVNS) — One person was taken to a burn unit after suffering from severe burns from an apartment fire in Oak Hill on Sunday, January 28, 2024.

According to Fire Chief Tim Richardson of the Oak Hill Fire Department, at approximately 6:55 A.M., on Sunday, an apartment building above Ward Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling off of East Main Street and Gatewood Avenue caught fire leaving one person with severe burns.

Oak Hill Fire Department, Oak Hill Police Department, and Jan Care EMS came to the scene.

The male victim was transported to Plateau Medical Center to be treated. Once he was stabilized, he was transferred to a burn unit in Louisville, Kentucky.

It is still undetermined how the fire started and is currently being investigated by the West Virginia State Fire Marshall’s Office.
