'One Piece' live-action series to hit Netflix in 2023

Netflix’s live-action adaptation of “One Piece” will be available for streaming later this year.

On Monday, the streaming giant shared a poster for the upcoming series on social media.

“Adventure is on the horizon! One Piece sets sail in 2023,” Netflix’s official Twitter account wrote.

In the new poster, main protagonist Monkey D. Luffy can be seen raising a fist toward the sky.

The highly anticipated show is currently being co-produced by Tomorrow Studios, a partnership between producer Marty Adelstein and ITV Studios that notably produced Netflix's 2021 "Cowboy Bebop" live-action series.

Japanese manga artist Eiichiro Oda, who created the “One Piece” manga series, is listed as an executive producer. Oda started the beloved series – which is the best-selling manga in history with over 500 million sales – in 1997.

In November 2021, the Japanese animated TV series based on the manga debuted its 1,000th episode.

Netflix’s live-action series will feature actors of various backgrounds, including Mexican actor Iñaki Godoy as Luffy, Japanese actor Mackenyu Arata as Roronoa Zoro and American actor Emily Rudd as Nami.

The live-action adaptation, which was first announced in 2017, has yet to receive an official release date.
