The script for Netflix's live-action “One Piece” Season 2 is complete, with production potentially starting as early as 2024.
Key details: Marty Adelstein, CEO of Tomorrow Studios, the production company behind the new “One Piece” series, told Variety that “[they’ve] got scripts ready” for Season 2. Studio President Becky Clements commented that production would not begin until the after SAG-AFTRA strike is resolved.
Time frame expectation: Clements said production could begin as early as next year, adding, “Realistically, hopefully, a year away, if we move very quickly, and that is a possibility. Somewhere between a year and 18 months, we could be ready for air.”
Season 2 still in the air: Despite this news, however, Netflix has yet to make any official announcements about whether the show will continue or not. The series has been a critical and major success, surpassing “Stranger Things” and “Wednesday” to become the top show in over 84 countries within three days of release.

The series, a live-action adaptation of the popular manga and anime of the same name by Japanese mangaka Eiichiro Oda, also received stellar ratings on review aggregator websites such as Rotten Tomatoes.
They are hopeful: Clements is maintaining a positive outlook on the future of the live-action "One Piece," revealing to Variety that they were told that they “have exceeded expectations.” Meanwhile, Adelstein believes that Netflix is still "looking at various situations about how many episodes they do" and suspects they will hear from them in the coming weeks.
“There seems to be a big impetus to keep this going and to come up with a long-term strategy. So we’re just waiting for that,” he said.
