One Seaford man dead after sending his car 'violently' rolling off a Delmar roadway

One man is dead after a car crash in Delmar Saturday night.

Police said his white Cadillac STS was traveling quickly down Whitesville Road, headed west with at least one passenger, when he lost control for unknown reasons. The driver slid off the roadway, according to Delaware State Police, sending the car "violently" into a counterclockwise roll that struck multiple trees in its path.

The front passenger was ejected. She landed in the wooded area near the south edge of the roadway, police said.

The 35-year-old driver, from Seaford, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said his name is being withheld until family is notified. His passenger, a 31-year-old woman also from Seaford, was flown to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The Delaware State Police Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit is still investigating this incident. The road was closed for four hours before the scene was cleared.
