First Dates star Fred Sirieix appeared on today's (April 8) The One Show episode to talk about his show Snackmasters, which airs on Channel 4.

The TV star first explained the concept of Snackmasters and said that top chefs are tasked with recreating popular British snack foods.

However, when One Show presenters Alex Jones and Amol Rajan started to list popular foods such as Kit Kats, Whoppers and Monster Munch, Fred shocked them by revealing that the first time he tried Monster Munch crisps was during his time on Snackmasters.

"It was my first time eating a Monster Munch. My very first time ever," Fred admitted.

A surprised Alex said "that can't be true", though Fred responded and explained that he liked the crisp.

Alex added: "Who doesn't like it?"

Amol was just as surprised as Alex to hear about Fred only trying Monster Munch recently.

"How could you have got through to this stage of your life without eating a pickled onion Monster Munch?" Amol said.

Agreeing with Alex and Amol, Fred said: "I know. There are more things that I don't know than things that I know."

The maître d' also explained that some of the chefs went to extreme lengths during their time on the show, mentioning that Jason Atherton purchased a pizza oven for around £16,000 in the hopes of recreating a Dominos pizza.

Fred added why he thinks the show works so well, saying: "We matchmake the chefs together and that's why it works so well. Because it's not just a competition for themselves but for them to recreate the particular snack [and for them] to beat somebody else."

The One Show airs on weekdays on BBC One.
