Two drivers were sent to Tacoma General Hospital following a crash on Bethel Burley Road in South Kitsap on Wednesday morning.

Two drivers were sent to a hospital for treatment after a car hit a minivan on Bethel Burley Road, leading to a road closure for six hours Wednesday morning.

Kitsap County Sheriff's Office deputies and South Kitsap Fire and Rescue personnel responded to a car crash at 4:15 a.m. Wednesday on Bethel Burley Road near Shadowood Drive, according to Kitsap County Sheriff's Office spokesman Sgt. Ken Dickinson.

A 39-year-old Bremerton man driving an Audi A7 sedan was headed northbound on Bethel Burley Road and crossed over the centerline. The Audi struck the left front end of a Toyota Sienna van, which was going southbound, and caused the Toyota to go off the road, hit the dirt and embankment and roll over onto its side, Dickinson said.

The driver of the Toyota, a 48-year-old Port Orchard man, was sent to Tacoma General Hospital for treatment, with potentially serious injuries, Dickinson said. The driver of the Audi was also sent to Tacoma General.

Two passengers in the Toyota, a 39-year-old man and a 43-year-old man both from Port Orchard, had minor injuries and were treated at the scene.

Bethel Burley Road was closed until 10:15 a.m. while the crash was under investigation.

The Audi driver was suspected of being under the influence of marijuana, and deputies took a blood sample, Dickinson said.

The Kitsap County interagency traffic team is investigating the case with assistance from Bemerton Police Department, Dickinson said.

The story was updated after it was first published to add information about the injured.
