One to three inches of snow to fall on Alamance County Friday night

Alamance County will see yet another weekend snowfall starting Friday night.

Forecasters with the National Weather Service in Raleigh estimate 2 to 3 inches of snow will fall between Friday night and Saturday morning. Winds of 12 to 17 mph plus stronger gusts will also create wind chill temperatures as low as 14.

"These snow amounts will result in dangerous road conditions tonight through Saturday. The worst conditions will likely be along and west of US Highway 1, where the higher snow amounts are expected," a briefing from the NWS said midday Friday.

Expected snowfall totals from Friday, Jan. 28 to Saturday, Jan. 29, 2022.

Residents should expect to see the snow start around 7 p.m. as a mix of rain and snow. The storm system should clear out by about 8 a.m. Saturday. A winter weather advisory will be in effect from 6 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Saturday.

Concerns over black ice are expected to continue through the weekend as temperatures remain low. Scattered power outages are also a concern, according to the NWS.
