One-vehicle crash near Northwood, North Dakota, results in fatality

Jan. 18—NORTHWOOD, N.D. — A one-vehicle crash near Northwood resulted in a fatality.

The incident occurred shortly after 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 17, approximately 3 miles east of Northwood on State Highway 15.

According to a report from the North Dakota Highway Patrol, a 2004 Pontiac Bonneville was traveling westbound on Highway 15 "when the vehicle crossed over the center line. The driver over-corrected and left the roadway entering the north ditch. The Bonneville overturned in the snow-filled ditch and landed on its roof."

The report said the driver was transported by Northwood Ambulance, which was intercepted by Altru Ambulance on the way to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks. The driver was pronounced dead while en route.

The name of the driver, a 75-year-old male, will be released later. The crash remains under investigation by the NDHP.
