One woman dead, suspect in custody after shooting in Eugene

One woman is dead after a shooting at a house near the 1000 block of Cinnamon Ave. in Eugene Wednesday afternoon.

According to Lane County Sheriff's Office, deputies and Eugene police officers responded to the scene at about 3 p.m. after receiving reports of shots fired. A woman was discovered on scene with a gunshot wound and later died from her injuries. Her identity is being withheld at this time.

Investigators were able to determine the identity of the suspect and located his vehicle in the 1000 block of Abbie Lane.

A 20-year-old suspect has been taken into custody and lodged at Lane County Jail for manslaughter, assault and felon in possession of a firearm.

Law enforcement officials say there's no ongoing threat to the public related to this incident and an investigation is ongoing.
