Name released of victim in deadly Rosehill Road shooting

The name of a woman who died following a shooting Wednesday on Rosehill Road was released Thursday afternoon by the Fayetteville Police Department.

Daeja Danette Kyes, 24, of Fayetteville, and another woman were shot during what a news release said was a "physical altercation" involving Kyres and others on Rosehill Road near Tamarack Drive about 5:30 p.m.

Both women were taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center where Kyes succumbed to her injuries. The other individual, whose name was not released, was treated and discharged from the hospital, police said.

Officials have not said if a shooter has been identified.
