The Ones: Gudda Gang’s “Gang Memberz”

With artists releasing songs at a fast and furious pace it’s difficult for the average hip-hop head to keep track of it all—no matter how tapped in they are. That’s why we created The Ones, a daily post to highlight the song you need to hear curated by the Levels team. We sort through all the new songs—across all the platforms and subgenres—so you don’t have to. Thank us later.

Gudda Gang - “Gang Memberz”

I never thought I would say this, but...Little Rock, Ark. has an emerging rap scene. Gudda Gang is a group of rappers that sound like an amalgamation of more established scenes that are accessible by car: Chicago drill deliveries, Detroit instrumentals, and Memphis lingo. For a scene this young, it’s no surprise that their influences are heavy. What’s important is that the rapping is on point. On “Gang Memberz,” Tuka, 727Fatboy, and Shaun G. describe endless ways they’ll run up on their local enemies. The three (and the large but unknown other members of Gudda Gang) all have the eager and impatient energy of a crew aware that they have a chance to make Little Rock the next regional rap scene worth checking for.
