Online, mail-in voter registration deadline for Aug. 8 election is Monday, July 24

Michigan is gearing up for its municipal primary elections on Aug. 8. If you have not registered to vote yet, here is what you need to know.

Monday, July 24 marks the final day for online or mail-in voter registration for the upcoming August elections, according to the Michigan Secretary of State's Office. If you miss Monday's deadline, you still have the option to register in person until Election Day.

To register to vote online and to update your voter information, visit mvic.sos.state.mi.us/RegisterVoter/Index. A voter registration form is also available to print and submit via mail 15 days before Election Day, or in person by 8 p.m. on Election Day.

Those eligible for an absentee ballot may request one by 5 p.m. on Aug. 4. To verify your application, you are required to include either your driver's license number, personal identification card number or the last four digits of your social security number. Absentee ballots must be delivered to your local clerk office by 8 p.m. on Election Day, Aug. 8.

Voters with disabilities may request an absentee ballot here, while those without a disability may request one here.

On Election Day, in person voter registration is available anytime until 8 p.m. at your city or township clerk's office. To search for your voter information or your local clerk, visit mvic.sos.state.mi.us/Voter/Index/#yourclerk.
