Online votes sought for Lima's train avoidance project

Mar. 9—LIMA — Less than a month after its train avoidance project earned a Smart Cities Award, the City of Lima's project has been named a finalist for another award.

Spectrum Enterprise partnered with U.S. Ignite to award a grant to Lima under the U.S. Ignite Smart Gigabit Communities program. Spectrum Enterprise also provided all networking, connectivity, sensors, devices and software required to deploy this proof of concept. It's now up for IDC Government Insights' fifth annual Smart Cities North America Awards in the Transportation Infrastructure category.

The awards recognize the progress North American municipalities have made in executing Smart Cities projects and for providing a forum for sharing information to expedite project development.

The next phase gives the public a voice in determining the winners. The IDC is inviting the public to vote on the finalists online by going to www.surveymonkey.com/r/SCNAA22. Voting will be open through 5 p.m. Sunday, March 13th.

Winners will be honored in Columbus during the Smart Cities Connect event scheduled for April 4 to 7.
