RICHMOND, Ind. — Of the myriad township races on this year's general election ballots, only two are contested.

Republican incumbent Susan Isaacs is being challenged by Democrat Cassandra Brown for Wayne Township trustee, and three Republicans and a Democrat are running for three Jefferson Township board seats.

Both Isaacs, who became trustee in 2010, and Brown ran unopposed during their May primaries.

Also in Wayne Township, Assessor Gary Callahan, who was appointed during February 2021 by a Republican caucus, is unopposed. Callahan replaced Timothy Smith when Smith was appointed Wayne County assessor.

Republicans running unopposed for trustee in other Wayne County townships are: Steven Kaiser, Abington; incumbent Sandra Nocton, Boston; incumbent Vicki Chasteen, Center; incumbent Rebecca Cool, Clay; incumbent Lance Lumpkin, Dalton; incumbent John Roll, Franklin; incumbent Robert D. Conyers, Greene; incumbent James Fagan, Harrison; incumbent Lyndon Wicker, Jackson; Chris Lane, Jefferson; incumbent Jeff Himelick, New Garden; incumbent Dan Hollenberg, Perry; incumbent Ken Risch, Washington; and incumbent George Haskett, Webster.

In Jefferson Township, Democrat Chad Neal is running against Republicans Gary Keesling, Anne Smith and Max Soliday for the three township board seats. Soliday is the only incumbent.
