They Only Come Out At Night: NextGens light it up at Norton's fall exhibit preview

The first look at the oh-so-buzzy Joseph Stella show highlighted a reception for the Young Friends of the Norton and the Norton's Emerging Collectors Council.

The 'Fleuressence' kickoff party took place Nov. 4 at the museum.

The evening of 'flora, fauna and fantasy' under the stars included cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, music by DJ Lindsay Mills and an "immersive kaleidoscope experience."

Immersive kaleidoscope experience. Back in our day we called it blotter acid.

"Joseph Stella: Visionary Nature" is the first major museum exhibition to focus exclusively on his nature subjects, and features nearly 90 paintings and works on paper drawn from museums and private collections.

It is co-organized by the Brandywine River Museum of Art and the High Museum of Art, Atlanta. The show continues through Jan. 15.

Young Friends of the Norton Museum of Art group of young professionals (suggested ages 21 to 49) committed to supporting the organization and learning about art through educational programs and social events that focus on the museum collection and special exhibitions.

The Emerging Collector’s Council is a group of burgeoning collectors and arts enthusiasts committed to supporting the museum’s goal of introducing a pool of artworks and new media to the permanent collection with a focus on new and diverse artists.
