After only a year, Rory's Market in downtown Providence says it's closing. What we know.

PROVIDENCE – A little over a year after opening downtown, Rory's Market + Kitchen announced on Monday that it will close.

The Providence grocery store – the only one in the downtown footprint – delivered the news in an Instagram post, citing "personal reasons" for the closure.

"This past year has been filled with love, support, and unforgettable moments, and we are so grateful for each and every one of you who made it possible," the business wrote. "Your loyalty and smiles have warmed our hearts and made this journey in Providence truly special."

No further details were included in the post, and it was not immediately clear when the store would close.

Rory's in Providence opened in September 2022

The grocery store known for selling a handful of healthy options and prepared foods opened its doors on Washington Street in September 2022, branching out from its Cape Cod roots.

Its grand opening was a buzzy affair with a DJ, drinks and complimentary goodie bags with items like lentil pasta and popcorn dusted in Himalayan pink salt.
