Onslow County Sheriff's Office: Man arrested on sex charges admits to relationship with minor
An Onslow County man has been arrested for allegedly having sexual relations with a juvenile.
On Wednesday, detectives executed a search warrant at the residence of Herlano Leandrea Corey, 39, of Richlands, who confessed and admitted to having a sexual relationship with a minor, the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office announced via Facebook post Friday.
According to the release on its social media page, Corey also “admitted to multiple incidents with the victim” and admitted to other sex acts over the course of two years, most recently in December 2021.
Law enforcement said they took a report on Jan. 15 that the juvenile was having sexual relations with the man after the victim had disclosed to the Child Advocacy Center that they had a sexual relationship multiple times in a two-year period.
Corey has been charged with four counts of felony first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and was given a $300,000 secured bond, the sheriff’s office said. As of Friday, he was at the Onslow County Detention Center awaiting his first court appearance.
More charges are expected as detectives continue to talk to witnesses and look into evidence seized from Corey’s home, the sheriff’s office said.
