The first Onslow County babies of 2023 were born on Sunday and Monday at Onslow Memorial Hospital and Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune.

Jacksonville parents Alana Coppeta and Randyn Collins welcomed their first baby on Sunday evening at 7 p.m. at Onslow Memorial Hospital. Baby Ella Collins was born by emergency c-section at eight pounds, nine ounces.

"She's healing really good now and she can come in our room and stuff," Coppeta said, adding it feels lucky and "pretty cool" to have had the first Onslow County baby of 2023.

He is the third child for the couple and will get to meet his older brother and sister soon.

The release added his parents said they are happy he is the first baby at Naval for the new year, and Acevedo, a Jacksonville native, said she was also born at Naval.

"We are glad he came before his due date and happy he is here," said Sgt. Kouris in the release, a United States Marine stationed at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point. "Everyone here has just done an amazing job and are super nice; we wish them the best."

Naval Medical Center congratulates the family and wishes them a safe and happy 2023, the release concluded.
