Onsted Festival, old-time baseball among upcoming Irish Hills events

The Irish Hills Regional Chamber of Commerce is holding its membership appreciation celebration again this year beginning at 4:30 p.m. Sept. 22 at Cherry Creek Winery. Each IHRCC member will receive two free tickets that include heavy appetizers, live music, drink token, entry to win a door prize and an exclusive wine glass. The Onsted Festival is coming up Friday, Aug. 19, through Sunday, Aug. 21. This festival in the park features food vendors, crafts, games of cornhole, live bands and a farmers market. Go to onstedmifestival.com for details.

The Brooklyn Kiwanis Club is holding a rubber duck race from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 22, during Columbia Elementary School's Back to School Bash. Race a duck and win money for your teacher. If your duck wins your heat, your teacher’s name gets put into a drawing for a $50 Amazon gift card. Cost is $5 per duck.

The Walker Wheels Invitational is taking place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, at Walker Tavern Historical Site. Bring a friend, bring a picnic and bring a lawn chair for a great day of baseball the way it was played in 1860. There is no admission fee, but a recreation passport is required for park entry.

Savanna Rose Dance Studio’s dance lessons will begin in the fall on Sept. 12. Registration will be weekly from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesdays through Sept. 6. Either call the studio or stop in to register. You may also register online by visiting www.savannarosedancestudio.com. Class sizes will be limited, so register early for desired classes and days. Classes offered include: creative dance, kids combo, ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop and more. Dance classes are for children ages 1.5 or older.

The Irish Hills Eagles have the following specials coming up: On Wednesday, Aug. 17, they are offering $1 coney dogs for members only, beginning at 11 a.m.  On Friday, Aug. 19, they will have perch dinners from 5 to 7 p.m. for $10, and the public is welcome. They are also holding an all-you-can-eat breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday, Aug. 21. Adults are $7, and children 10 or younger are only $3. The public is welcome. The Irish Hills Eagles are at 9500 Wamplers Lake Road in Brooklyn.

The Irish Hills Regional Chamber of Commerce is planning the event “Mind, Body & Soul — A Health and Wellness Fair” for 2 to 7 p.m. Oct. 18 at Michigan International Speedway.
