Onsted girls track and field takes third

KENT CITY — The Onsted girls track and field team led the area Saturday as the Wildcats took third in the Division 3 MHSAA state championship meet.

Emmry Ross led the way as she won the state title in the 400-meter dash with a time of 57.93 while also joining Brooke Borders, Kara Terakedis and Kennedy Ross to win the 4x400 (4:06.02).

Onsted posted a team score of 33 points to trail only Hart (63) and Pewamo Westphalia (39).

Blissfield took eighth overall with a score of 22 points led by Annabelle Smith. Smith took second in the 100 (12.66) and long jump (16-feet-11.75-inches) and third in the 200 (25.75).

Sand Creek's Grace Elliott won the title in the shot put with a throw of 40-04.25 to help the Aggies take 12th with 17 points.

Hudson's Emily Czeiszperger took third in the pole vault (10-6).

Madison's 4x200 team of Navaeh Parish, Tatum Wilson, Jillian Kendrick and Abby Weber took third at 1:48.39.

On the boys side, the Trojans got a third place finish out of Sean DeLeon in the intermediate hurdles (40.66).

Steven Valdez took eight in the 400 for Hudson at 51.38.

Lansing Catholic won the title with a score of 38, topping Saugatuck by a single point.

Division 2 at Forest Hills Eastern: At Ada, the Tecumseh girls team took 14th overall with 17.66 points while East Grand Rapids won with 66.

Junior Jordyn Wright won the state title in the pole vault with a height of 12-0.

Chesney Wilke took third in the 800 (2:16.06).

On the boys side, Adrian took third in the 4x800 with Jake Eagling, Aiden Smith, Ben Schefka and Bryce Soule with a great time of 7:56.48.

Tecumseh's 4x200 team took fourth with AJ Bryan, Gavin Chenevey, Liam Cornish and Draven Langsten running a 1:21.91.

Berrin Springs won the title with 41 points.

Division 4 at Hudsonville: At Hudsonville, the Addison girls took 13th overall with a score of 20 while Muskegon Western Michigan Christian won with 52 points, narrowly beating Mount Pleasant Sacred Heart's score of 48.

The Panthers were led by Molly Brown as she took fifth in the intermediate hurdles (48.92) before being part of the second place 4x200 (1:50.34) along with Ally Beougher, Alexis Chapman and Alaysia Allen. Beougher, Allen and Brown were joined by Sayra Hernandez to take fifth in the 4x400 (4:17.78).

Moreci took 16th with Neili Pike taking fifth in the 800 (2:24.47) and in the 4x800 with Leah and Libby Rorick and Kianna Castillo (10:12.42) . Pike was also part of the 4x400 sixth place team with Bryanna Martinez, Leah Rorick and Castillo (4:18.34).

Lenawee Christian had Izzy Brooks take eighth in the 1,600 (5:31.24).

On the boys side, Morenci took 20th with 12 points while Kalamazoo Hackett won with 64..

Trey Nieman took third in both the shot put (48-8) and discus (143.06).
