Onsted, Madison girls track and field win league titles

ONSTED — The Onsted girls track team won the Lenawee County Athletic Association Championship meet on Tuesday with a team score of 148.

Clinton (84), Hudson (74) and Blissfield (55) placed third, fourth and seventh, respectively.

Onsted’s Emmry Ross placed first in the 400-meter dash (1:00.31), Kara Terakedis won the 1,600 (5:20.07) and Kennedy Ross picked up a win in the intermediate hurdles (46.91).

Kate Gorney placed first in the shot put (32-feet-1-inch) while Taylor Boss won the discus (103-05) for the Wildcats. Onsted also picked up wins in the 4x400 (4:19.23) and 4x800 (10:25.42) relays.

Blissfield’s Annabelle Smith won the 200 dash (26.17) and the long jump (17-04.25).

Hudson’s Emily Czeiszperger finished first in the pole vault (10-0).

Clinton’s Aubrey Lauer placed second in the long jump (15-05.75) and Samantha Coots finished second in the 400 (1:04.75).

On the boys side, the Onsted boys track team finished third at the LCAA championships with a team score of 86.5. Hudson (76), Clinton (72) and Blissfield (4) placed fourth, fifth and eighth, respectively.

Onsted’s Aiden Paquin won the intermediate hurdles (42.30) while Brody Amthor, Matt Cunningham, Griffin Amthor and Connor Pustay won the 4x400 relay (3:42.68) for the Wildcats.

Hudson’s Steven Valdez won the 400 (51.76) and the long jump (20-0.475).

Clinton’s Gabe Nelson finished second in the 3,200 (10:26.29) while Zak Shadley, Carter Keith, Max Stitt and Grant Stockford placed second in the 4x100 (46.48).

Blissfield’s Ben Miller finished tenth in the 1,600 (5:06.69).

Britton Deerfield, Madison, Morenci, Sand Creek at TCC Championship: At Summerfield, the Madison girls track team won the TCC Championship with a team score of 155. Sand Creek (92), Morenci (89) and Britton Deerfield finished second, third and sixth, respectively.

Madison’s Jillian Kendrick won the 100 (13.28) and 200 (27.40). Elizabeth Hacker placed first in the 3200 (13:28.87)

Kendrick, Kaylee Paulette, Madaline Goldmeyer and Abby Weber finished first in the 4x100 (52.83) while Weber, Tatum Wilson, Sophia Curtis and Nevaeh Parish won the 4x200 for the Trojans. Wilson also won the high jump (4-10).

Morenci’s Neili Pike won the 800 (2:31.07) and the 1600 (5:40.66). Kiana Castillo placed first in the 400 (1:06.17).

Pike, Castillo, Leah Rorick and Libby Rorick picked up wins in the 4x400 (4:21.80) and 4x800 (11:06.10) for the Bulldogs.

Sand Creek swept the throwing events with Grace Elliott winning the shot put (36-6) and Emily Carbajal winning the discus (108-7.50). Chelsi Zyla also won the pole vault (8-0) for the Aggies.

Britton Deerfield’s Claire Molnar finished second in the long jump (15-1).

On the boys side, the Madison finished fourth with a team score of 85. Morenci (57), Britton Deerfield (30) and Sand Creek (11.5) finished fifth, sixth and seventh, respectively.

Madison’s Sean DeLeon, Jamari Williams, Isiah Casarez-Ruiz and Dylan Glase won the 4x200 (1:34.03). Xavier Soss finished first in the shot put (49-4).

Britton Deerfield’s Steven Martin won the pole vault (12-6).

Morenci’s Brodie Pike won the 100 (11.68) and Trey Nieman won the discus (143-4).

Sand Creek’s Braedon Nicholson placed sixth in the 400 (54.15).

Addison at Cascades Conference Championship: The Addison boys track team finished fifth in the Cascades Conference championship meet with a team score of 72.5 while the girls team finished fourth with a team score of 92.

Keelan Mullin, Nathan Sines, Spencer Brown and Ryan Worsham took first in the 4x100 (45.35).

KJ Scott won the discus (137-8) and Noah Springer won the pole vault (12-0).

On the girls side, Addison won the 4x200 (1:50.44) and 4x400 (4:21.45).

Lenawee Christian at SCAA Championship: At Hillsdale, Lenawee Christian boys (61.5) and girls (63.5) track teams both finished fourth at the SCAA Championship meet.

Clay Ayers won the 200 (23.32) for the boys while Izzy Brooks finished first in the 1,600 (5:34.45) for the girls.
