Ontario County Chamber to stay at space in Canandaigua

CANANDAIGUA, NY − The Ontario County Chamber of Commerce will remain at its home of nearly 30 years in downtown Canandaigua.

Officials from ONChamber, as the organization is also known, announced their intention to retain ownership and occupancy of its building at 113-117 S. Main St., Canandaigua, three months after announcing the building's listing for sale.

The ONChamber board unanimously voted to list the building in June following a multi-year assessment of its assets, with a premium placed on financial stewardship and driving member value.

Board Chair Michelle Pedzich said in a statement the purchase offer for the building didn’t meet its specific criteria for a sale or put the organization on a path to achieve its long-term goals. Pedzich stated that listing the building did have a good outcome, sparking conversations about the community’s needs and use of the space.

“We intend to remain in the building and continue conversations with potential investors and partners who want to improve the space to best meet the needs of the chamber and its members, and the community," Pedzich stated. "These conversations have been positive and promising. We are all invested in the future of ONChamber, Canandaigua, and Ontario County.”

The Canandaigua Business Improvement District and the United Way of Greater Rochester and the Finger Lakes will continue to lease spaces in the ONChamber building.

Earlier in the year, the former Chamber President and CEO Ethan Fogg and the Chamber parted ways, although Chamber officials said his departure and the status of the building were not related.

Michael Mills, who is vice chair of the board and is managing Chamber operations on an interim basis, said the search process for a successor is nearing the end.
