Open your aperture: Northampton Community College offering courses on UFOs

Kathleen Covalt may have a traditional education, but her approach to teaching is out of this world.

Covalt has been teaching courses at Northampton Community College for six years. For the last two, she's added a niche topic to her offerings: Unidentified Flying Objects, or Unidentified Aerial Phenomena.

"I have a couple different classes on it. You know, there's so much to talk about, and the one coming up in February is very unique," she said, noting that the topic is "esoteric" in nature.

Both courses are non-credit, open to the public and are offered online via Northampton's "Life Learn" Adult Enrichment program.

The course Covalt is offering on February 23 is called "The Rainbow Body: Could it be related to the UFO/ UAP Phenomena?"

Covalt, who has a master's degree in counseling and a doctorate in educational psychology, detailed the Tibetan Buddhist tradition of the "Body of Light" or "Rainbow Body."

The phenomena is said to occur when someone reaches the highest level of attainment, similar to that of enlightenment. At the time of death, the body is said to transform completely into light, instead of decaying.

"My supposition is that the frequency of the body literally gets raised so high that it turns back into light at the time of death," Covalt said. "Because ultimately, we really are photons, you know."

Covalt mused that the phenomena could be akin to that of Ascension and Assumption in Catholicism.

So how does it relate to UFOs?

"Many people see orbs... one thing that some people report (in UFO sightings are) orbs of light," Covalt explained. "I think some of those orbs are not necessarily hard craft, but they're actually the bodies of beings and they're their light bodies that are being perceived in this realm."

A multi-session course planned for April is entitled: "UFOs/ UAPs: Current Disclosure Efforts and Scientific Investigations."

Dr. Kathleen B. Covalt will be teaching courses at Northampton Community College in February and April.

And it's perfect timing, Covalt says, as the attitudes held by the government and the public towards UFOs and UAPs appear to be changing.

In November 2021, the Department of Defense announced the intention to create an investigative body to track and analyze potential security threats posed by the aerial phenomena.

"I'm just saying that I want to open our aperture to what's possible, and why not?" Covalt said.
