Open for Christmas: Amarillo businesses, restaurants to host Christmas Day meals
For those looking for those last minute, needed items, looking for the perfect Christmas meal or a Christmas activity, here is a list of some Amarillo businesses open on Christmas Day.
While several businesses and restaurants will be closed for the holiday or have different hours, here are a few options, starting off with restaurants. Amarillo offers several sit-down locations the whole family is sure to enjoy.
Big Texan
The Big Texan Steak Ranch will be open for their 52nd Christmas Day Buffet on Dec. 25. It will be open that Monday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., located at 7701 Interstate-40.
The restaurant will serve all homemade dishes, including their crowd-favorite Gravy, Cranberry Sauce, Cajun Turkey and more. The Steak Ranch will also be serving their Christmas day special, Prime Rib. Attendees can enjoy their buffet or any of the items on their normal menu.
"We have people coming in from all over; we see them every year. It is like a tradition for many. They have standing reservations for many of those families. We knew them as children, and now we are seeing them as adults bringing in their own families. It's just a great time, great food, great atmosphere and a great way to celebrate the holiday," said Bobby Lee, Big Texan Steak Ranch co-owner.
The Big Texan will be decorated in Christmas gear, from the staff donning their ugliest Christmas sweaters to the wall décor donning ornaments on their antlers. Each year on average the restaurant serves as many as 3,200 individuals Christmas Day.
According to Lee, the average wait time is expected to be 30 to 45 minutes. Large parties are asked to make a reservation. Limited availability is also available for to-go family meals that can be picked up prior to or on Christmas Day via curbside pickup.

Toscana
Toscana Italian Restaurant will be open Christmas Day, with breakfast beginning at 6:30 a.m. then lunch served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The restaurant will close for several hours and open again for dinner from 5 to 10 p.m.
As a part of their Christmas Day specials, the restaurant will be serving Prime Rib for dinner in addition to their regular menu options.
The restaurant is located at 600 S Polk St., inside of the Barfield Hotel. Limited seating is available, and reservations are suggested.
Saltgrass Steak House
Saltgrass Steakhouse, located at 8300 I-40 West, will be open for lunch from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Christmas Day, serving all of their normal menu options.
Red Lobster
Red Lobster of Amarillo will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Christmas Day, located at 3311 W Interstate Hwy 40.
The restaurant will be serving all of their normal menu items and their limited time Holiday Lobster and Shrimp celebration items. The restaurant will be available for dine-in and to-go options. Reservations are suggested.
Waffle House
All three of the Amarillo Waffle House locations will be open Christmas Day, serving their full menu. The Amarillo Waffle Houses will be open 24/7 throughout the holiday. Reservations will be first come first serve, and a wait of approximately 30 to 45 minutes can be expected.

For the Christmas afterparty, Zombies Bar and Grill will be open from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. Christmas Day serving beverages only.
Other Amarillo food locations that will be open Christmas Day at reduced hours include Burger King, Dutch Bros, Domino’s Pizza, Papa John’s Pizza and Pizza Hut.
Food and beverage locations that are expected to be operating at normal hours include IHOP, McDonald’s and Starbucks.
Cinergy of Amarillo will be open from noon to midnight, offering family friendly activities with their amenities available including escape rooms, bowling, the game floor and more. The location will also be featuring several showtimes for blockbuster hits including "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom," "The Color Purple," "Migration," "The Boys in the Boat" and more.
For those seeking those last minute items and travel needs, select Amarillo Toot'n Totum locations will be open Christmas Day, with some operating at reduced hours.
In addition, Amarillo area United Supermarkets, Amigos and Market Streets will be closed Christmas Day, and Amarillo Walmart locations will also be closed Christmas day with reduced hours Christmas Eve.
