Open Class food entries for the St. Joseph County 4-H Fair remain open. Fair opens July 1.

SOUTH BEND — The Open Class category returns for this year’s St. Joseph County 4- Fair, which runs from July 1 to 9 at 5117 Ironwood Road.

Adults who are 18 and older, and not eligible for 4-H, may choose to enter items in as many categories as they wish.

Non-food-related categories are closed, but the following is the schedule for Open Class food entries:

• Baked foods should be brought to the fairgrounds between 2 and 4 p.m. July 3.

• A contest for Decorated Cupcakes takes place July 3. Entries should arrive between 2 and 4 p.m. Open judging, meaning the judge will taste and give feedback publicly about each entry, begins at 3 p.m.

• The Anything Lemon Contest takes place July 6, with entries arriving from 2 to 4 p.m. and open judging beginning at 3 p.m.

• The Grilling Cook-Off begins at 9:30 a.m. July 9. The fair provides the meat (pork chops), and participants should pick it up between 10 a.m. and noon July 8 at the kitchen in the Esther Singer Building.

Each entry in Open Class has an entry fee of $1.
