What’s Open, Closed For Labor Day 2020 In Annapolis

ANNAPOLIS, MD — Labor Day will be a little different this year. With coronavirus cases seeing a spike, public health officials urge residents to avoid large gatherings this weekend. Cancelling large events is the new norm. The one thing locals can count on is a scheduled holiday.

Many government services are already affected by coronavirus closures, but the holiday will only shake up their hours more. Here is what's opened and closed around Monday's holiday:

Government Offices: Anne Arundel County and Annapolis government offices will be closed on Monday.

Courts: Courts have reopened, but they are closed from Saturday through Monday. Court hours are listed here.

Animal Shelter: The Animal Care & Control shelter will be open on Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., but visitors must make an appointment ahead of time. The shelter will be closed on Sunday and Monday.

Pools: The North Arundel Aquatic Center and the Arundel Olympic Swim Center are also closed, but they are scheduled to reopen for adult fitness and lap swim only on Tuesday, Sept. 8. Visitors must book an appointment to use the pool.

Parks: All parks will be open for their normal Friday and Saturday hours. Park hours are listed here. This interactive map shows the parks closest you.

Libraries: All Anne Arundel County Public Library branches will be open for their normal curbside pickup hours over the weekend, but they will be closed on Monday. All branches will reopen for limited, in-person service on Tuesday. Patrons must book an appointment by calling their local library, however. A full list of library hours and contact information is posted here.

Post Offices: Post offices will be open on Friday and Saturday, but closed Sunday and Monday.

Trash And Recycling: All landfills and recycling centers will be open Friday through Sunday, but closed on Monday. A schedule of all Anne Arundel County trash and recycling operations is available here.

Monday's curbside pickup will be on Tuesday, and Tuesday's collection will happen on Wednesday. Anybody with questions about the city's trash removal should reach out to Annapolis Public Works.

Buses: All Annapolis busses will operate on Saturday. Only the purple bus will run on Sunday and Monday. That line will run on a Sunday schedule both days.

The County Connector will run on a modified schedule on its normal Friday, Saturday and Sunday hours, but Monday will operate on a Sunday schedule. Only a few county busses will run on Monday. The 201, 202 and both gold routes will run on a Sunday schedule this Labor day. The Crofton Connector and the South County Call N' Ride will be out of service. All County bus routes can be found here. This link has the hours for each route.
