What’s Open, Closed In Sarasota County On Thanksgiving

SARASOTA COUNTY, FL — As Sarasota County residents prepare to celebrate Thanksgiving on Thursday, here are some closures and schedule changes affecting government offices, facilities and services to keep in mind this holiday weekend.

City of Sarasota government offices: All administrative offices will be closed Thursday and Friday. City offices will reopen Monday by appointment only.

City of Sarasota Solid Waste Department: Waste collection schedules will be affected by the holiday. There will be no garbage, recycling and yard waste pickup on Thursday.

Collection will be delayed by one day. Thursday's collection will take place Friday and Friday's collection will take place Saturday.

There will also be no commercial garbage collection Thursday. Solid Waste staff will coordinate with commercial customers to adjust their individual collections accordingly.

Arlington Park and Aquatic Complex: Closed Thursday and Friday.

Lido Pool: Remains closed until further notice.

Nature Trails at Bobby Jones Golf Club: Located at 1000 Circus Blvd. The trails will be open regular hours, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. The golf courses are closed until early 2022 for planned renovations.

Payne Park Tennis Center: Closed Thursday and Friday.

Robert L. Taylor Community Complex: Closed Thursday and Friday. The state-run COVID-19 testing site at this location will also be closed Thursday.

Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall: The box office will be closed Thursday and Friday.

Sarasota County Area Transit: Regular SCAT bus, SCAT Plus and On Demand service will not operate on Thursday. Service will resume on Friday.

Sarasota County Public Libraries: All branch locations will be closed Thursday and Friday.

Sarasota County Public Schools: Schools closed Wednesday and will remain closed Thursday and Friday.

Sarasota County COVID-testing sites: Both sites - Robert L. Taylor Community Complex and the drive-through testing site at 100 Cattlemen Road – will be closed.

Sarasota County government offices: All government offices will be closed Thursday and Friday.

Sarasota CARES hotline: The CARES hotline and individual assistance ambassadors will not be in service Thursday through Sunday.

Sarasota County waste services: There will be no garbage, recycling or yard waste pickup on Thursday. Thursday’s pick-up will take place on Friday, and Friday’s pick-up will take place on Saturday.

County Chemical Collection Centers: Closed Thursday.

Central County Landfill: Located at 4000 Knights Trail Road. Closed on Thanksgiving. Will open until 5 p.m. on Saturday because of the holiday.

Citizen Convenience Center: Closed Thursday.
