The Open Resource to expand services

Dec. 13—RUSHVILLE — The Open Resource, an all-volunteer non-profit organization in Rushville, is planning to offer expanded services in 2024 thanks to the continuing support of the Rush County Community Foundation and donations from area businesses and individuals.

The Open Resource Tech Center — building on a strong foundation of promoting digital literacy and inclusion in Rush County by providing free refurbished Chromebook laptops, classes, and technology assistance — plans to provide new and enhanced services during 2024 including:

Refurbished Laptops: If you need to upgrade your computer, they will continue to provide refurbished Chromebook laptops to Rush County residents. For more information, stop by 103 N. Main Street and talk to one of the Digital Navigators.

Enhanced Digital Navigation: Recognizing the increasing importance of digital skills in today's world, The Open Resource plans to enhance its Digital Navigator program. This program provides free one-on-one assistance to individuals who need help navigating the digital landscape. Whether it is learning basic computer skills, connecting to online resources, or troubleshooting technical issues, a Digital Navigator is available to help.

Educational Partnerships: The Open Resource Tech Center will be offering the Northstar Digital Literacy curriculum which includes skills assessment, both group or individual learning opportunities, and certificates. These services will be available to any individual, business, or community group needing to enhance their computer related skills. The curriculum provides learning opportunities for Microsoft Office applications, social media, and much more!

Community Events: The Open Resource is committed to fostering a sense of community and belonging. Throughout the year, it will host various special tech events such as digital inclusion pop-up sessions, QuickBook workshops, kids coding camps, and a tech talk on the impact of artificial Intelligence (AI) on Rush County.
