Opening Ceremony’s Bold New Birkenstocks Are a Big Middle Finger to Boring Footwear

Birkenstock sandals have always been, and probably always will be, divisive. First, because men's sandals are a highly contested subject. (Usually, that's the fault of un-groomed feet and not the fault of the sandal.) Second, because the structure of a sandal doesn't have the universal appeal that a boot or sneaker might. This season, the shoe just got even bolder: Birkenstock teamed up with Opening Ceremony to launch a special take on the brand's classic Zurich sandal. The sandal features Birkenstock's signature cork sole-the one that molds to your feet as you wear it-but instead of the brand's generally understated palette, the uppers are rendered in screaming-loud neon. There are three versions: green, yellow, and coral, all of which are absolutely unmissable. Now the only question is: How do you want to turn heads this summer?
