Operation Valentine encourages community to send cards and messages to military heroes

This Valentine's Day you can send your love to soldiers and veterans as part of Forest Park's "Operation Valentine" initiative.

Forest Park Funeral Home and Cemetery are part of almost 1,000 exclusive Veterans and Family Memorial Care providers across America who are sponsoring the 14th annual Operation Valentine event.

Students and individuals in the community are encouraged to write messages to the troops and veterans on Valentine cards, cut-out hearts or whatever else they would like and Forest Park ensures they are delivered to the men and women serving overseas.

"Our staff feels that this project is simple and meaningful," says Forest Park Cemetery's Director of Sales Monica Pierce. "Despite the ongoing pandemic, we wanted to continue this tradition."

Cards cannot include glitter, food or candy, but can include personal messages saying thank you and telling them about yourself.

Valentine cards can be dropped off until Feb. 4 between 10a.m. and 4p.m. at the Forest Park Funeral Home, Forest Park Cemetery and the Forest Park West Cemetery.

Forest Park Funeral Home is located at 1201 Louisiana Ave.

Forest Park Cemetery is located at 3700 St. Vincent Ave.
