President Joe Biden’s administration has notched over 15 significant achievements on the president’s belt in less than two years. Let’s take a look.

THE OTHER SIDE: Opinion: Biden, his tyrants 'obliterating America into non-existence' with liberal agenda

In contrast to the prior administration’s inept handling of the COVID pandemic, the Biden administration managed the rollout of vaccines in a prudent and sensible way. It marshalled the passage of the COVID relief bill and engineered the bipartisan passage of the temporary Child Tax Credit to deal with COVID-induced unemployment and child poverty.

The Biden Administration will invest $280 billion to incentivize tech manufacturing and research and development, particularly of semiconductors, which will help Intel complete its $20 billion investment right here in central Ohio.

And how could we forget the Gun Safety bill, the first of its kind in years? Add to that the massive bipartisan infrastructure bill, developed by the Biden administration, to repair and replace bridges, roads and other ailing parts of America’s infrastructure.

At the same time, our fears of a recession appear a bit premature, especially considering the latest robust employment figures. And we’re all celebrating the reduction of gas prices below $4 per barrel.

Biden has done yeoman work in keeping the NATO alliance together in support of Ukraine following the Russian invasion.  In a bipartisan vote engineered by the Biden administration, Congress endorsed the membership of Sweden and Finland, countries with strong militaries to enhance NATO’s mission.

Biden authorized the assassination of the Al Qaeda terrorist Ayman al-Zawahri and it looks like the prisoner swap with Russia for Brittney Griner and Paul Whelan may be imminent.

In yet another bipartisan vote engineered by the Biden administration, funds were finally approved to support the hundreds of thousands of veterans sickened by burn pits in the Afghanistan and Iraq wars.

President Joe Biden signed legislation Aug. 10 to support veterans exposed to toxic burn pits. The new law is named for Pickerington native and former Sgt. First Class Heath Robinson, center, who died in 2020 after battling lung cancer for three years.

And that brings me to perhaps the most significant achievement of all, the historic Inflation Reduction Act, passed with only Democratic support.

The Inflation Reduction Act includes $370 billion, the largest investment in our history to address global warming. It provides for Medicare-negotiated prescription drug prices for the elderly, with a cap of $2,000 per year.

It continues subsidies for health insurance. It calls for a 15% minimum corporate tax on some of the largest corporations in America, requiring them to pay their share. And it is expected to reduce the deficit by as much as $300 million, while dampening inflation.

While these achievements are staggering, they are neither perfect nor complete.  Work must continue to address such issues as an assault weapons ban, passing voting rights and immigration bills, making permanent the Child Tax Credit, and so on. But I think we can say, the Biden administration has made a helluva start in less than two years.

If any of the above resonates with you, the next time you’re asked for your opinion about what the Biden administration has accomplished, say “Plenty!”
