Oprah and Prince Harry have collaborated on a documentary series about mental health and emotional well-being. The Me You Can't See, will premiere on May 21 on Apple TV+, over two months after their revealing interview with Meghan Markle.

In the new Apple series, Prince Harry and Oprah will lead conversations about mental health, as well as share stories from their own journeys, as they have done in the past. "High-profile" guests like Lady Gaga and Glenn Close will be spotlighted, as will "a wide range of people from across the globe living with the challenges of mental health issues and addressing their emotional well-being," per Apple.

“Now more than ever, there is an immediate need to replace the shame surrounding mental health with wisdom, compassion, and honesty,” Oprah said in a statement. “Our series aims to spark that global conversation.”

Prior to this series, both Oprah and Prince Harry have been committed to starting conversations around the topic of well-being. Oprah's new book What Happened to You?, co-written with Dr. Bruce Perry, is devoted to the topic of overcoming childhood trauma. Harry has been forthcoming about his own experiences seeking therapy. He has led multiple mental health-focused initiatives, like the Heads Together campaign, and currently has a position at a mental health startup.

“We are born into different lives, brought up in different environments, and as a result are exposed to different experiences. But our shared experience is that we are all human,” Prince Harry said. “The majority of us carry some form of unresolved trauma, loss, or grief, which feels—and is—very personal. Yet the last year has shown us that we are all in this together, and my hope is that this series will show there is power in vulnerability, connection in empathy, and strength in honesty.”

Here's what you need to know about the series, and how to watch.

The documentary series will premiere in late May.

The Me You Can't See will premiere on Friday, May 21, but has been in the works for two years. Speaking to Gayle King on CBS This Morning in 2019, Oprah explained how the series came to be.

“I asked [Prince Harry] the question, ‘What do you think are the most important issues facing the world right now?'" Oprah recalled. Prince Harry answered with climate change and mental health. "It’s a passion of his and, at the end of the conversation, I said, ‘Oh, I’m going to be doing this thing with Apple. It’s a big concern of mine too and I want to try to erase the stigma.' He said at the end of the conversation, ‘If there’s anything I can do to help.’ And I go, 'As a matter of fact...'"

Oprah said she and Harry had "secret meetings" in London to speak about the project. "Our hope is that it will have an impact on reducing the stigma and allowing people to know that they're not alone and allowing people to speak up about it and being able to identify it for themselves and their friends," Oprah said.

In the announcement on the Sussex Royal Instagram page, Harry said: "I truly believe that good mental health—mental fitness—is the key to powerful leadership, productive communities and a purpose-driven self." He called the series "vital."
