Optim Medical Center-Screven has new outpatient dermatology clinic

Optim Medical Center-Screven has added a new specialty service. On Monday, June 20, the hospital launched its outpatient dermatology clinic at the satellite clinic at 102 Rocky Ford Road, across the street from the main Sylvania campus.

Outpatients will be able to receive treatment for a variety of skin-related conditions, like acne, psoriasis, eczema and growths. Full skin examinations to screen for and monitor precancerous and cancerous lesions will also be available.

Care will be administered by members of the Georgia Skin & Cancer Clinic, Dr. Sidney Smith and nurse practitioner Karen Penrose. The clinic has multiple locations throughout Georgia and South Carolina, and offers a variety of services for healthcare related to skin, hair and nails.

Smith is CEO of Georgia Skin & Cancer. His education stems from several medical schools across the southeast, including Georgia State University and Medical College of Georgia, and he has had over 25 years of training in dermatology. Penrose has over 30 years of nursing experience, with education from Armstrong College and Georgia Southern University.
