Oracle Puts Redwood City Campus Buildings On The Block: Report

REDWOOD CITY, CA — Just over a month after announcing plans to relocate its headquarters to Texas, Oracle has listed part of its Redwood City campus, Silicon Valley Business Journal reports.

The software giant has listed office buildings at 301 and 401 Island Parkway and the 501 Island Parkway parking structure according to the report. The office buildings are in located within Belmont’s city limits and the parking garage in Redwood City.

An asking price for the property is not known according to the report.

The property being marketed for use as a life science space, the report said.

Oracle joined the growing list of tech companies who’ve decided to ditch their Bay Area digs for the Lone Star state.

Oracle was among at least three iconic Silicon Valley companies who have confirmed moves to Texas since early December of last year.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise announced plans to move its headquarters to Houston and Elon Musk announced plans to move Tesla to Texas last month.

The moves are attributed to lower taxes and living costs offered in Texas and the seismic shift towards remote work that's been accelerated amid the coronavirus crisis.

Oracle said in a regulatory filing that the move "means that many of our employees can choose their office location as well as continue to work from home part time or all of the time," Bloomberg reports.

The company employed 135,000 at around a half dozen sites across the country as of late May according to the report.

Oracle was founded in 1977 in Santa Clara and moved to Redwood City in 1989.

Dropbox, Palantir Technologies and 8VC are among other tech companies that have left Silicon Valley in recent months.
